In our preschool program, teachers introduce children to a more structured curriculum through whole group, as well as small group activities. Daily activities include language/literacy, math, science, and social skills.

MATH:

It is never too early to begin learning math skills. Math is all around us every day. Our math is using hands on manipulatives and participating in developmentally appropriate activities that are fun and engaging. We practice number recognition and counting, one to one correspondence, sorting, simple patterns, sizes, matching and much more.

LANGUAGE:

Extensive research shows that reading aloud to children at a young age derives vocabulary and listening skills. We introduce children to letter names through daily reading of stories and engaging in related activities. This even helps children develop the concept of left to right direction.

Students also enrich their language abilities by participating in a weekly Spanish class.

FINE MOTOR/HANDWRITING:

We offer many opportunities for children to use a variety of writing tools. These tools are meant to strengthen hand and finger muscles for beginning writing. In addition to writing tools, we offer activities to promote pencil grip and improve drawing skills.

SOCIAL/EMOTIONAL:

Learning and displaying appropriate social skills has been linked to success later in life. Though it is not typically the first thing people think about when considering what children learn, it is definitely an important factor. Social skills are the tools that enable people to communicate, learn, ask questions, ask for help, get their needs met in appropriate ways, get along with others, make friends, and develop healthy relationships. Social skills enable children to interact appropriately with their peers.
